A BRIEF LIFE SKETCH
Sheikh Muhammad Amin was born in district Jhang in 1904 and grew up at Amritsar. He was a member of the Amritsar Municipal Committee for 15 years. He also worked as secretary Anjuman-i-Islamia Amritsar, and Vice Chairman of the Muslim League Action Committee, Amritsar.
After independence, he became a member of Lahore Corporation, Honorary Treasurer of the Punjab University and member of Project Committee of the New Campus of the Punjab University. At business avenue, he became a prominent figure in cotton trade and in the emergent Textile Industry. His Philanthropy and his dedication to the cause of education led him to found and endow with one third of his vast property, the West Pakistan Educational Trust, which is running the Crescent Model higher Secondary School, Shadman Colony Lahore . He also founded another Urdu Medium School at Lyallpur, which has been Nationalized.
Mian Sahib passed away on 26th August, 1969 and now lies in eternal rest. in the precincts of Hazrat Mian Mir.
